How 2 Love

Description: How 2 Love is a classroom-based life skills and sexuality education curriculum that spans eight sessions, providing interactive and activity based workshops that are specifically geared towards young people ages 13 to 24. Workshops are aimed at promoting an understanding of sexuality, building communication skills, and enhancing health and well-being. Our trained staff work to address factors motivating behavior, including the role of sexual risk-taking as a part of social and emotional development. Our interactive approach incorporates students’ beliefs and responses as part of the pedagogical strategy.
Each session spans a 45 minute period, but can be extended as needed to provide additional information and/or to meet the specific needs of your group. The curriculum is designed to be appropriate for middle and high school students all of races/ethnicities, gender expression and sexual orientation and identity.
How 2 Love can be implemented at middle and high schools, GSA/QSA groups, after school programs, summer camps, community-based organizations, health centers, or recreational centers by request. More info.
 

Sistering, Informing, Healing, Living and Empowering (SiHLE)

Description: SiHLE consists of small group, skills training intervention to reduce risky behavior among African-American adolescent females. There are four 4-hour sessions delivered weekly. Through interactive group discussions, this intervention emphasizes ethnic and gender pride, and enhances the awareness of HIV risk reduction strategies such as abstaining from sex, using condoms consistently, and having fewer sex partners. Through the use of role plays and cognitive rehearsal, the intervention enhances confidence in initiating safer-sex conversations, negotiation for safer sex, and refusing unsafe sex encounters. In addition, this intervention includes proper condom use skills and emphasizes on the importance of healthy relationships. Public Health Management Corporation implements Sistering, Informing, Healing, Living, and Empowering (SiHLE) with trained educators. Description: Be Proud! Be Responsible! Be Protective! aims to reduce unprotected sex among sexually active, pregnant and parenting teens by affecting knowledge, beliefs, and intentions related to condom use and sexual behaviors. It also addresses the impact of HIV/AIDS on pregnant women and their children, the prevention of disease during pregnancy and the postpartum period, and special concerns of young mothers. The program consists of eight 60-minute modules focusing on behavioral attitudes, expectations, negotiation and problem solving skills, self-efficacy, and feelings of maternal protectiveness. Turning Points for Children implements Be Proud! Be Responsible! Be Protective! with trained educators. More info.
