Description: The Family Health Council of Central PA, in partnership with Alder Health Services, has developed an innovative and comprehensive program which will address healthy relationships, adolescent development and healthy life skills for adolescents. This project is designed to work with some of the most vulnerable, at-risk youth – lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) teens. Teen pregnancy/HIV/STI prevention education will be offered in several in-school and structured after-school settings with the aim of an optimal transition into healthy adulthood by all adolescents. This program will assist youth in developing positive self-esteem, social competence and self-efficacy; healthy attitudes and values about adolescent sexuality, growth and development; and motivation to share the information with their peers. The curriculum aims to develop healthy life skills, and increase the protective factors available to youth. FHCCP implements Becoming a Responsible Teen with trained educators. More info.
